Skipper came to us out of the shelter with a sever gimp in his back leg. After x-rays we discovered he had an old fracture near the femoral head which would be hard to fix but his body was already beginning to heal in an acceptable position. It was decided that we would wait 6weeks and look again to see if Skipper would be able to keep his leg or not. Skipper’s a tough little cookie and with pain medication and proper exercise and diet his leg has healed well and while he will always have a bit a “skip” to his step he gets to keep his leg and live a full and active life.
Skipper is the epitome of what a young ACD boy is all about. He is smart, intuitive, inquisitive, a bit pushy but oh so lovey! He is very active so will need an active home although long runs and bike rides may be too much for his condition. He does however enjoy a good game of fetch which is a great way to expend energy throughout the day!
Skipper gets along well with his foster friends but can be a little too rough with the smaller dogs and we do not advise cats. He would do well with older kids as he is rambunctious and might be too overwhelming for little ones. He is great in the house, doing well on leash and working on re-call now that the weather is cooler.
If you’re looking for a text book ACD boy who’s extra handsome, Skipper’s the one!
Skipper is housebroken, crate trained and fully vetted. He is currently located in Marana, AZ
The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. It in no way obligates you to adopt, it is simply part of our process. If the dog you are interested in is adopted before you can meet them or if we do not currently have a dog you are interested in we still encourage you to go through the approval process. Then you will be pre-approved and ready to adopt when a dog does come along that you are interested in.
