Rusty truly has a heart of gold and is ready for his next adventure in his forever home. He is good with other dogs and is living with 2 cats that he is curious but respectful with. He is a perfect gentleman on leash and loves his daily walks around the neighborhood. He is also very respectful of our horses when we have had him at the ranch to meet them, again on leash. He will make someone a great riding, hiking, or just hanging out companion. He loves nothing better than to be with his people watching TV in the evening lying on his bed. He adores human contact and will sit for hours while is people lavish him with pets, rubs, and treats of course.
Rusty is near perfect except for his extreme fear of confinement and therefore is not yet crate trained. We are working on this with him and he is making great strides. He is comfortable walking into and out of the crate but is not yet comfortable enough to have the door closed. Rusty doesn’t need to be crated though as he is great if left in the house and does nothing more than sleep on his dog bed until you return. He will meet you at the door with a wag of his tail and a smile on his face.
He will need a family that either doesn’t care to use a crate or will be patient and willing to take baby steps with him to get him over his fear. Until he finds his forever home, we are continuing to help him gain confidence with this issue.
Rusty is housebroken and fully vetted. He is currently located in Rio Rico AZ
The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. It in no way obligates you to adopt, it is simply part of our process. If the dog you are interested in is adopted before you can meet them or if we do not currently have a dog you are interested in we still encourage you to go through the approval process. Then you will be pre-approved and ready to adopt when a dog does come along that you are interested in.
