Texas Red walked out of the Dragoon hills, not far from the “Texas Canyon” rest stop on I-10 and onto a small ranch where a lovely lady took him in so he could rest and relax for a little while. He was clean and seemed to be well fed so we don’t think he was alone for a long time, but he was terrified of just about everything! He would bellycrawl up to her and continued to present that behavior each time she talked to him. He was a very frightened young man. The lady contacted ACDR to see if we had room to take him in and one of our volunteers jumped at the challenge of bringing this boy out of his shell. This is the beginning of his story.
Texas Red is a handsome young man. He gets along very well with his foster brothers and sisters in the home and outside. He is crate trained and it appears he is also house trained. He walks quietly on his leash. He is good with the cat that lives in the house as well. Red will need a human companion who understands sensitive dogs and is willing to let him progress at his own pace in his forever home. He will be a perfect companion for anyone willing to give him the time he needs to get to know his new surroundings and people.
He is about 18 months-2 years old and is quite handsome! He loves pets and attention once you gain his confidence. He is generally a quiet dog and does not bark much. He adores spending time with his foster family as he lays on his dog bed and relaxes with all the other dogs in the home. He is a submissive dog who prefers to follow rather than lead.
He is currently being fostered in Rio Rico. The first step in meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. Once approved, we will be more than happy to connect you with his fosters for additional information on this awesome pup, if he is still available at that time.
The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. It in no way obligates you to adopt, it is simply part of our process. If the dog you are interested in is adopted before you can meet them or if we do not currently have a dog you are interested in we still encourage you to go through the approval process. Then you will be pre-approved and ready to adopt when a dog does come along that you are interested in.
