Johnnie’s markings and intelligence are very much BC, but his easy-going demeanor and size, at a lean 65 pounds, comes from an unknown breed/mix.  Johnnie has a few special qualities, and in the spirit of full disclosure, his potential new family needs to know the following: while out in public, Johnnie’s foster family is regularly stopped by strangers who mention how handsome he is; then when Johnnie greets these strangers, they want to take him home because he is so friendly and chill. He has absolutely no fear of people, and he even lets strangers give him hugs. He is great on car rides, and even when he barks at interesting things outside,  it’s a fairly gentle, friendly bark.  Johnnie even enjoys small plane rides.  He is an outstanding camping and hiking companion; he does just fine in the family tent; he will wait quietly in his bed for his family to wake up and does not bark or get nervous just because other dogs at the campsite want to bark like mad at sunrise. We love that about Johnnie. Finally, Johnnie’s striking, human-like eyes stare right into the souls of everyone, including men and women, children, and male and female dogs. He loves them all and is extremely playful with his foster-mates.  We have not observed Johnnie around cats inside the home, but he does not seem inclined to chase outside cats in the neighborhood. Johnnie does not want to be crate trained, and due to his size or possibly a not-so-happy experience in his past, being confined in a crate may not be good for his body or spirit. Johnnie is house broken, chews appropriately on his dog toys, and can shimmy through a medium-sized dog door without a problem. Like many dogs in rescue, Johnnie has latent physical scars from abuse, but luckily he has already forgotten that part of his life and is eager to find a forever home!

Johnnie Walker is housebroken and fully vetted.  He is currently located in Mesa, AZ

The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. It in no way obligates you to adopt, it is simply part of our process. If the dog you are interested in is adopted before you can meet them or if we do not currently have a dog you are interested in we still encourage you to go through the approval process. Then you will be pre-approved and ready to adopt when a dog does come along that you are interested in.
