We in animal rescue, know from the get go, that taking on a black dog is always going to be a challenge. Oh, not because black dogs have any issues, but simply because they are black. We don’t know why folks pass the dog by because of his color, but it happens more times than you know.
Take Frankie here, as a prime example. He is now 14 months old and has spent the last 12 months in foster care with ACDR.  He was found cowering under a bridge in a very small town in northeast Arizona. The shelter that found him and picked him up him knew his chances of ever getting out of there was slim so they contacted ACDR and asked if we could help. We looked at his tiny face and saw those great big, steel blue eyes, and we said we’d take him in. He is an ACD/hound mix, and he has the energy of an ACD.

Fast forward 12 months. Frankie is a beautiful adolescent pup with huge blue eyes. He has all the traits of an adolescent, and he is absolutely charming.  He is energetic. He will make a great running, hiking buddy or just your faithful companion and couch potato. He loves his three foster fur-brothers, gets along well with other dogs after an introduction, of course, and loves people and really hard chew toys!

He is fully house trained, crate trained and is up to date on all of his required vaccinations. His birthday wish is to find his forever home. We know his person is out there somewhere. Will that person be you?
