Fay came to us at the beginning of the year with advanced glaucoma. Her eyes were far too gone to save so we had them removed and Fay is now finally living a life without pain. We believe Fay has never had much in life, she may have been crated most of her life before we got her. She doesn’t know many of the natural things that most dogs know whether they can see or not, like how to use her nose, how to navigate her surroundings or any desire for adventure. Her foster mom has rehabilitated several dogs who have lost their sight and she says Fay is different and acts more like the dogs she’s worked with that come out of puppy mills.
Currently Fay is living with 12 other dogs and does well as long as they give her respect and space. She is not interested in playing with anyone and will politely let any new ones know she’s off limits. She is housebroken and waits patiently to go out as she has not figured out the dog door like the other blind dogs did. She does enjoy a short romp outside with her person. She wiggles her nubbin and jumps around, it’s quite adorable. She is getting better on slow and short leash walks too.
Fay is looking for quiet home with a nice comfy dog bed and an available lap for snuggle time. She is a good alert dog as she will bark when there’s strangers at the door. She quickly quiets down once you ask her to. Small busy kids would not be good for Fay as she is a bit nervous around a lot of activity.
If you’re looking for a quiet companion who is soft and sweet and will love you forever then Fay may be the one.
Fay is housebroken and fully vetted. No crates as she panics in them.
She is currently located in Flagstaff AZ
The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to submit an application. It in no way obligates you to adopt; it is simply part of our process. If the dog you are interested in is adopted before you can meet them or if we do not currently have a dog you are interested in we still encourage you to go through the approval process. Then you will be pre-approved and ready to adopt when a dog does come along that you are interested in. Apply through the applications page on this website.
